MASB Committee Application Process
June 1, 2010 to August 31, 2010

Are you looking for a way to be more involved in your association? Do you want to share your expertise and perspective statewide? Then consider applying to be a member of an MASB committee. Committees provide MASB leadership with valuable input from members around the state.

Appointment to a committee is for one year (up to a maximum of three years on any one committee) beginning in September. Committee members must be willing to attend meetings in Lansing throughout the year.

Committee assignments include:
*Government Relations Committee
*Legal Trust Fund Board of Trustees, and
*Resolutions and Bylaws.

Government Relations Committee
9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

This committee monitors state and federal legislative and executive actions and school finance pertaining to public education and school districts. The committee typically meets 7-8 times per year in the MASB office.

Resolutions And Bylaws Committee
10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

This committee develops and proposes resolutions and bylaws for consideration by the Delegate Assembly, which upon adoption become MASB's official position on those issues. The committee typically meets 2-3 times per year.

Legal Trust Fund
4:00 PM to 5:30 PM

The MASB Legal Trust Fund assists Michigan school boards involved in litigation having statewide significance. With the help of the Legal Trust Fund, boards of education can pursue cases they might otherwise have to settle because of the high costs of litigation. The Legal Trust Fund's Board of Trustees decides which cases will be supported by the fund. To be eligible to serve on this committee your board of education must be a member of the Legal Trust Fund. This committee typically meets 2-3 times per year.
